It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the 23rd Annual Penn Masters Golf Championship! This year’s tournament will be held May 2-5, 2019 in Schenectady, NY.  Here again are the details for what promises to be the event of a lifetime!

Penn Masters headquarters will be located at the Courtyard Schenectady at Mohawk Harbor. Downtown Schenectady’s newest addition is perfect for guests looking for something new and different. Enjoy the great location by the 50+ restaurants, the new River’s Casino and Resort, our river harbor and all downtown has to offer. Complimentary parking makes it easy to come and go. The Bistro, your destination for healthy breakfast options, offers Starbucks coffee, big n’ crusty bagels and various breakfast entrees. In the evening enjoy dinner and connect over cocktails. Find your way outdoors and meet up by the warmth of our fire pit. Take advantage of inviting spaces where you can relax, with free Wi-Fi throughout. Plus, refresh with our well-equipped fitness center and indoor pool. Your stay at the Courtyard is sure to be spectacular!

We have secured a stellar field of 102 participants who will compete for both the Brownie Jug and the Ted Amidon trophies, as the championship begins upon your arrival at The Edison Club on Thursday afternoon May 2nd. Sharpen your game during the opening practice round with a shotgun start at 1:30 pm on this sparkling private gem. We will be playing the 2nd & 3rd Nines during Thursday’s practice round…Nestled on the rolling hills above the bluffs of the Mohawk River, The Edison Club’s 27 holes of championship golf provide a solid test for all skill levels. The Edison Club offers a pretty park-like setting, with many of the holes lined by mature trees. Players find plenty of challenges to focus their attentions from our risk/reward doglegged par-fours, sometimes reachable par-fives and formidable par-threes, this is a golf course you simply don’t tire of playing.

Mike Hoogendoorn, our defending champion, will begin the chase for a 2nd Brownie Jug, although he will have to contend with the deepest and most talented field in Penn Master’s history. Josh Griffin and Lucas Amidon, our defending co-handicap champions, will begin their earnest defense of the trophy named after the late Ted Amidon.

The Penn Masters ‘Welcome Dinner’ will be held at Druthers Brewing Company, located next door to the Courtyard, beginning at 8:00 PM on Thursday evening…Unlimited wood fired Pizza, Wings & Caesar salad are on tap for a great evening of sharing laughs with friends and discussing strategy to contend in the days ahead.

The official Penn Masters Golf Championship begins on Friday May 3rd at The Edison Club.  We will be tackling this Devereux Emmet designed masterpiece again from the white tees measuring 6,389 yards and plays to a par of 72. We will be playing the 1st & 3rd Nines during Friday’s opener…Upon completion of round #1, we will begin what promises to be an entertaining, relaxing and fun filled evening with our ‘Champions Dinner’, located inside The Edison Club’s Grand Ballroom. We will sit down to a fabulous dinner buffet with carving station beginning at 7:00 pm, and honor our defending champion, in addition to all past Penn Masters champions during this showcase event.

Round 2 or ‘Moving Day’ on Saturday May 4th will be another stern test of golf, rewarding all facets of both the long and short game, while demanding accuracy, patience and shot making at the McGregor Links Country Club. This historic course was built in 1921 by local notable Senator Edgar T. Brackett. McGregor Links is simply a ‘beast’ of a challenge and scoring will be at a premium. Plan to catch the Kentucky Derby in historic downtown Saratoga Springs following golf, where there are many dining and libation options in legendary atmosphere.

Championship Sunday promises to separate the men from the boys, when the fields “Low 16” will tackle the Eagle Crest Golf Club, from the daunting championship tees measuring 6,935 yards. Situated between the Adirondacks and Berkshire mountains, Eagle Crest is truly a spectacular place and is a worthy host of the final Penn Masters round. Those without the heart, passion and skill will crumble during this final grueling test.
