It is my great pleasure to welcome you to compete in the 25th Annual Penn Masters Golf Championship! This year’s tournament will be held May 13-16, 2021 in Mount Pocono, Pennsylvania. Here again are the details for what promises to be the event of a lifetime!
Penn Masters headquarters will be located at the Mount Airy Casino…Where a world of Enjoyment awaits…Get your heart racing at our world-class casino, then relax like never before with a spa treatment or sink your teeth into a USDA prime steak. Here, the fun and excitement are never ending!
Get your day started off right by exploring the breakfast menu at Guy Fieri’s Mt. Pocono Kitchen. It reflects his signature style of authentic and surprising flavors. Guy knows American food to the core. The dishes are crafted with the heart and soul of hometown favorites and infused with Guy’s big, daring flavors. You will find beloved comfort food such as the ultimate egg sandwich, the big bite burrito, cinnamon brown sugar oatmeal, big and crusty bagels, and glorious omelets with a spin only Guy could have envisioned. Hope you are hungry because Guy’s imagination knows no boundaries.
We have secured 102 participants who will compete for both the Brownie Jug and the Ted Amidon trophies, as the championship begins upon your arrival at The Mount Airy Golf Club on Thursday afternoon May 13th. Sharpen your game during the opening practice round with a shotgun start at 2:00 pm on this sparkling gem. Mount Airy GC is truly like no other course you have ever played before. Designed after Sports Illustrated “Best 18 holes in Golf”, each hole is modeled after golf’s most legendary holes from Championship course’s in America. Architect Hal Purdy reinterpreted famous holes from such dynamic courses as; Pebble beach, Oakland Hills, Merion, Augusta National to name a few. The result is over 6,500 yards of stunning fairways, picturesque views and outstanding golf course conditions expected at private country clubs. Looks aside, the 72.4/132 rated golf course is a true test of skill for every level golfer that decides to take on the challenge. Numerous ponds, streams, hazards, and elevation changes make for a great test to your game.
Chris Schoemaker, our defending champion, will begin the chase for a 2nd straight Brownie Jug, although he will have to contend with what is expected to be the deepest and most talented field in Penn Master’s history. Chad O’Clair, our defending handicap champion, will begin his earnest defense of the trophy named after the late Ted Amidon.
The Penn Masters ‘Welcome Dinner’ will be held following the Practice Round on-site at the Mount Airy Golf Club for a ‘BBQ on the Patio’…Angus Burgers, Hot Dogs, Grilled BBQ Chicken, Baked Beans, Macaroni Salad, Potato Salad & Kegs of Beer are on tap for a great evening of sharing laughs with friends and discussing strategy to contend in the days ahead.
The official Penn Masters Golf Championship begins on Friday May 14th with a shotgun start at 11:00 AM at Pocono Farms Country Club. Pocono Farms CC is an incredible Art Wall Jr. designed private championship golf course and practice facility located in Tobyhanna, PA. The front nine holes play past Glacier Lake and through mountain woodlands where spring flowers and fall colors make for an unforgettable golf experience. The back nine challenges golfers with well-manicured and deeply contoured greens that demand approach shots to land and stay on the same level as the flag.
Upon completion of round #1, we will begin what promises to be an entertaining, relaxing, and fun filled evening with our ‘Champions Dinner’, located on site at the Pocono Farms Lakeside Grill. We will sit down to a fabulous Prime Rib dinner beginning at 6:00 pm, and honor our defending champion Chris Schoemaker, in addition to all previous Penn Masters champions during this showcase event.
Round 2 or ‘Moving Day’ on Saturday May 16th will be another stern test of golf, rewarding all facets of both the long and short game, while demanding accuracy, patience and shot making at the Country Club of the Poconos, where we have a shotgun start planned for 12:30 PM. There is a full Lunch to go or to grab during your round featuring Pulled Pork, Fried Chicken, Sausage w/ Peppers & Onions + Potato Salad w/ Kegs of Beer. Designed by renowned architect Jim Fazio, CCOP is a championship mountain-style venue where more than 40 acres of wetlands provide sanctuary for thousands of birds as well as exciting tests for the golfer. Measuring just 5,948 yards from the back tees, this course still promises to test even the longest hitters and offers you great golfing adventures that demand your attention: wetlands to carry; hills to climb; elevated greens and strategically placed sand traps, to name a few. Set against the Allegheny Plateau and the Pocono Mountain foothills, Country Club of the Poconos’ picturesque scenery and impeccable conditioning provide a unique golf experience.
Championship Sunday promises to separate the men from the boys, when the fields “Low 16” will tackle the Mount Airy Golf Club, on Sunday morning May 16th beginning at 9:00 AM from the daunting championship tees measuring 6,500 yards. The course itself is on the grounds of Mount Airy Casino and Resort, which means you have a great set of amenities at your disposal seconds away from your hotel room. Mount Airy Golf Club is truly a spectacular place and is a worthy host of the final Penn Masters round. Those without the heart, passion and skill will crumble during this final grueling test.
It is now time to start making final preparations for the greatest event in all of golf…The 25th Annual Penn Masters Golf Championship! Please print out the attached Penn Masters information packet and bring with you on your journey to the Poconos… Get ready for a golf and entertainment experience that you will not soon forget!
