It is my great pleasure to welcome you to compete in the 27th Annual Penn Masters Golf Championship! This year’s tournament will be held May 4-7, 2023 in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Here again are the details for what promises to be the event of a lifetime!
Penn Masters headquarters will be located at the Renaissance Allentown Hotel.
Surrounded by many of downtown's most beloved locales, the historic building is simply ‘the place to be’ in all the Lehigh Valley.
Elevate your experience by taking advantage of the full-service restaurant, The Dime, serving locally sourced fare in an upscale atmosphere. After a long day, find a welcome reprieve from the hustle and bustle of the city in the luxurious accommodations, complete with complimentary Wi-Fi, flat-panel Smart TVs and 24-hour room service. The Renaissance Allentown Hotel offers professional service with a local flare.
The Dime offers a menu that features locally inspired and sourced Pennsylvanian American cuisine. Its inspiration comes not just from our own Lehigh Valley but from all regions of the state.
The Dime offers a deluxe breakfast buffet that will start your day off right. The buffet has something for everyone, from fresh eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, fresh fruits, juices, and yogurt to big & crusty bagels, to assorted cereals, waffles & pastries. The deluxe breakfast will surely satisfy your primal cravings each morning!
We have secured a Penn Masters near record field of 115 participants who will compete for both the Brownie Jug and the Ted Amidon trophies, as the championship begins upon your arrival to Riverview Country Club on Thursday afternoon May 4th. Sharpen your game during the opening practice round with a shotgun start at 1:30 pm on this sparkling gem. There is a full hot buffet available starting at 12:00 PM, so plan to arrive with an appetite…Riverview Country Club is set along the scenic Delaware River corridor and offers an upscale championship venue that has quickly established itself as one of Pennsylvania’s premier golf facilities. With its consistently perfect course conditions and panoramic views, Riverview CC is simply a must play.
Alex Town, our defending champion, will begin the chase for a 2nd straight Brownie Jug, although he will have to contend with what is expected to be the deepest and most talented field in Penn Master’s history. Dave Rosati, our defending handicap champion, will begin his earnest defense of the trophy named after the late Ted Amidon.
The Penn Masters ‘Welcome Dinner’ will be held at The Renaissance’s ‘The Dime’ Bar and Grill from 8:00 PM – 10:00 PM…Delicious food and drink are on tap for a great evening of sharing laughs with friends and discussing strategy to contend in the days ahead over a few pints!
The official Penn Masters Golf Championship begins on Friday, May 5th with a shotgun start at 1:30 PM at The Olde Homestead Golf Club…we will be playing from the Homesteader tees measuring 5,952 yards and plays to a par of 72…Olde Homestead Golf Club proudly offers an award-winning 18-Hole Championship Course with continuous cart paths that literally go over the river and through the woods, along with some that follow the rolling hills of Pennsylvania’s countryside, Olde Homestead’s championship course is truly one to be seen. This links-style course is also home to several aspects of Olde Homestead’s ancestral heritage including a summer kitchen from the original 1700’s homestead, a restored one-room schoolhouse, and a pair of drive-through corn cribs.
Olde Homestead’s 18-Hole daily fee course was designed by Jim Blaukovitch Associates and opened in 1995. Each hole features five tee boxes making the course fair and enjoyable for scratch golfers and high handicappers alike. The rye-grass fairways are wide, and trees are typically not a factor in play. Greens are medium speed with a fair (but not excessive) number of green-side bunkers.
Challenges include water hazards, which come into play on 10 of the 18 holes, and undulating bent-grass greens, many with three tiers. The course features an above-average number of fairway bunkers and a defined cut of deep rough which can add strokes to your score if you are not careful.
Upon completion of round #1, we will enjoy what promises to be an entertaining, relaxing, and fun filled evening with our ‘Champions Dinner’, located on site at Olde Homestead’s historic barn. We will sit down to a fabulous filet mignon dinner beginning at 7:30 pm, and honor our defending champion Alex Town, in addition to all previous Penn Masters champions during this showcase event.
Day 2 or “Moving Day” shapes up to be another demanding test of golf, rewarding all facets of both the long & short game, while demanding accuracy, patience & shot making. The official 2nd round begins on Saturday May 6th with a shotgun start at 12:30 pm at The Club at Twin Lakes. Play will be from the blue tees measuring 6,075 yards and plays to a par of 71. Twin Lakes is a uniquely challenging golf course that features elevated tees, sloping fairways and water hazards.
Constructed in the late 50’s and early 60’s, The Club at Twin Lakes is a mature Lehigh Valley course located on the grounds of an old iron ore mine.
Championship Sunday promises to separate the men from the boys, when the fields “Low 16” will tackle Riverview Country Club, on Sunday morning May 7th beginning at 9:00 AM from the daunting championship tees measuring 6,505 yards. The course is truly a spectacular place and is a worthy host of the final Penn Masters round. Those without the heart, passion and skill will crumble during this final grueling test.
It is now time to start making final preparations for the greatest event in all of golf…The 27th Annual Penn Masters Golf Championship! Please print out this information packet and bring with you on your journey to Allentown…Get ready for a golf and entertainment experience that you will never forget!
